About Mattea Rivers

Relationships can be hard work. It can be easy to fall into a pattern where you feel out of touch with each other, frustrated, and hopeless. Getting caught in a cycle fueled by misunderstandings and arguments can be all-consuming, taking away from enjoying other areas of your life. I understand the hesitation in seeking help, as it brings a new person into the intimate parts of your life and relationship dynamic. However, I am here to listen and provide a non-judgmental safe space, where you feel comfortable exploring each other.

My goal is to help you navigate challenges by rebuilding a connection based on acceptance, communication, trust, and intimacy. I use Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to facilitate open and honest conversations where everyone can feel heard, validated, and understood. Exploring emotions is central to the approach, as they play a powerful role in all aspects of our lives, including the way we understand ourselves and relate to others. I aim to work alongside you to understand the unique dance and patterns of your relationship. As we uncover emotions, new perspectives and ways of relating to each other arise, resulting in a shift in the relationship that will bring you closer and leave you feeling more fulfilled.

I approach all clients with empathy and unconditional understanding. I utilize a culturally sensitive, person-centred approach, tailored to each relationship’s unique needs and goals. I believe in the importance of cultivating a strong collaborative working alliance where you are the expert of your life.
