About Mara Behan

Relationships are complex, and at times, even the closest couples can feel emotionally distant or disconnected. If you’ve found yourself struggling to bridge the gap, or if communication feels like an uphill battle, you’re not alone. Many couples come to therapy feeling uncertain about whether change is possible, or whether their issues can truly be addressed. The emotional weight of uncovering long-held patterns can feel daunting—but it doesn’t have to be.

I use the gold standard of couples therapy- Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), an approach that helps couples identify the underlying emotions that drive their interactions. EFCT is designed to strengthen the emotional bond between partners by creating a safe and supportive space where vulnerability can be shared without judgment. Together, we’ll explore the emotional roots of your relationship challenges and work to create healthier, more secure cycles of communication that foster trust, closeness, and emotional safety.

My approach is grounded in empathy and understanding. I strive to create a secure therapeutic environment where both partners feel heard, valued, and supported. I know that every couple’s struggles are unique, and I work collaboratively to help you build new tools for connection and communication. My goal is to make difficult conversations feel manageable, so you can move forward with renewed resilience and a stronger emotional bond.

I’m a lover of travel and exploration—there’s something about being in a new place that calms my mind and brings me peace.
