About Brendan Stern

You find yourselves getting into the same fights over and over again. You’re both trying to find a way back to each other but it’s becoming harder and harder. Seemingly small issues are difficult to overcome, while disconnection happens quicker and more frequently. You may even lose sight of what brought you together in the first place, and begin to question whether the relationship was ever truly whole. As the cycle of frustration and disconnection takes root, effective communication and emotional support are out of reach, but the love is still there somewhere.

Your bond with your partner can be a source of tremendous strength and healing. I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), focusing on attachment needs, to help you gain an understanding of why and how these fights come out of nowhere and cause so much physical, emotional, and relational distress. Exploring these moments of strife creates new opportunities to show up for each other, to practice rebuilding trust.

The corrective emotional experiences that occur through this process can result in meaningful change, shifting negative patterns, and naturally generating new pathways forward. My goal is to go beyond cognitively understanding the situation in order to create opportunities for you and your partner(s) to have deep experiential moments of connection and safety.
